This is particularly the case in the United States.<\/p>\n The word \"Christmas\" is often considered descriptive for typical Christmas products: trees (Christmas tree), decorations (Christmas ornaments). In this case, the marks cannot be registered because of lack of distinctiveness. It is not possible to claim a monopoly on such expressions, as this would infringe on free competition.
